Our Design
Design Process

In the design phase, our group created layouts, diode chains, thermo-couplers, ground off the handles of pots, and pieced together our array of pots

Prototype 1

The first prototype came out aesthetically pleasing and with lots of promise. However; as we went to test it, we realized the wires to the thermo-coupler had broke. Because of that, our group had to extend the building process an extra week to create another prototype.

Prototype 2

The second prototype has been completed filled with insulation, phase change material, and even an emergency blanket lined on the inside of the pot as an extra measure to keep the heat inside.

Test #1

In the first test, we decided to keep it simple to make sure our prototype worked. The plan was to test whether our phase change material powered by solar power energy could heat up the water. In the end, it was a large success.

Test #2

In the second test, we moved on to trying to cook eggs. After 6.5 hours charging in the sun, we had enough energy to cook two eggs in a matter of 6 minutes, as well as heat up water afterwards. The only problem was that the insulation was burned afterwards.
